A Special Court in Bengaluru which was set up with an aim of to investigate the criminal cases against  Members of Legislative Assemblies and Members of parliament has recently ordered that a case for criminal misconduct should be registered against former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa for illegal denotification of land inthe city.

The Congress and Janata Dal (S) had formed a coalition government in the state after the 2018 Assembly elections. It fell in 2019 after 16 MLAs of both the Congress and the Janata Dal (S) resigned from the house after which the BJP came to power.

Chief Justice of India S.A. Bobde stated that no one has the right to issue a warrant against a sitting Chief Minister, however, they can issue a letter of request.

The Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed the petition of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, seeking to quash the criminal proceedings pending against him under Prevention of Corruption of Act.

The Bill, a revised version of a 2010 one, has proposed a ban on all forms of cattle slaughter by recommending stringent punishment for violators. This has been the trend in most states.
