The Itanagar Bench of Gauhati High Court while considering the PIL observed that, “The issue raised in this PIL undoubtedly raises a matter of public concern. Therefore, we are inclined to examine the matter.”

Justice Nariman Bench had allowed for 5.5 Meter but the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways amended it saying that the roads are being used for different purposes, going right up to the Chinese borders.

The Supreme Court today stayed the Delhi High Court’s contempt of court proceedings initiated against the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MOEF) for failing to publish the draft EIA notification in multiple regional languages.
