The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary, DGP and DG-prisons after taking suo motu cognizance of the allegation by woman inmate that she was gang-raped by five policemen for 10 days in a lockup in Rewa district.

A petition has been filed by a retired judicial officer in the Supreme Court, seeking action against the policemen who were involved in the illegal cremation of the victim girl in Hathras.
