Allahabad HC grants bail to former Aligarh Jattari chairman Manveer Singh

The Allahabad High Court on Friday has accepted the bail of former Aligarh Jattari chairman Manveer Singh.

The Allahabad High Court on Friday granted bail to former Aligarh Jattari chairman Manveer Singh. Manveer Singh had been booked under the Gangster Act. 

A single-judge bench of Justice Neeraj Tiwari passed this order while hearing a criminal miscellaneous bail application filed by Manveer Singh. The petitioner’s Advocate said the petitioner was falsely implicated in the case. He has a criminal record of six lawsuits against which he has been granted bail in two. Of the rest, he has been acquitted in two.  

It was submitted that there is also no possibility of applicant either fleeing from the judicial process or tampering with the witnesses. Applicant who is in jail since July 31, 2020 undertakes that he will not misuse the liberty, if granted.

This bail order of Justice Tiwari said it would be subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions:-

  1. The applicant shall not tamper with the prosecution evidence by intimidating/ pressurizing the witnesses, during the investigation or trial.
  2. The applicant shall cooperate in the trial sincerely without seeking any adjournment.
  3. The applicant shall not indulge in any criminal activity or commission of any crime after being released on bail.
  4. The applicant shall remain present before the trial Court on each date fixed, either personally or through his counsel. In case of his absence, without sufficient cause, the trial court may proceed against him under Section 229-A of the Indian Penal Code.
  5. The applicant misuses the liberty of bail and in order to secure his presence proclamation under Section 82 Cr.P.C. is issued and the applicant fails to appear before the Court on the date fixed in such proclamation, then, the trial court shall initiate proceedings against him, in accordance with law, under Section 174-A of the Indian Penal Code.

The High Court has ordered Manvir Singh to be released on bail with conditions, finding grounds for bail.
