Allahabad High Court directs Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam to complete promotion process within 3 months

The Allahabad High Court has directed to prepare the seniority list of urban and rural employees of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and complete the promotion process on vacant posts in three months.

A Single-Judge Bench of Justice Ajit Kumar passed this order, while hearing a petition filed by Vivek Singh and 16 others.

Pranjal Mehrotra, Counsel for the respondents, submitted that because of bifurcation of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam into two departments, namely, UP Jal Nigam Urban and UP Jal Nigam Rural, some administrative hassles have come and because of these administrative hassles, the seniority list could not be finalized and now for finalizing the seniority list the objections have been invited.

He further submitted that within a further period of one month’s time seniority list will be finalized after deciding the objections, if any, of the respective employees.

Since the election code of conduct at present is operating, therefore, he submitted that the Promotion Committee will sit in the month of March, 2022. It has not been denied that there are vacancies to which promotions have to be made and as and when the promotions will be considered the claim of the petitioners shall also be considered for promotion.
