Chhattisgarh High Court disposes of PIL for Sub-Tahsil Office at Anantpur village

The Chhattisgarh High Court has disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking establishment of a Sub-Tahsil Office at Anantpur village in District Kondagaon.

The case of the petitioner, Vikram Mandavi, is that it was proclaimed by a Chhattisgarh minister that a Sub-Tahsil Office of District Kondagaon would be established at Bijapur village. According to the petitioner, Sub-Tahsil Office is required to be established at Anantpur village, District Kondagaon because of logistical advantages as well as amenities available, when compared to Bijapur.

The respondents’ reply stated: “7. It is worthy to mention that, however, looking at the demands raised by the villagers for execution of the revenue works, the Sub-Tahsil Office, Bijapur of which announcement was made, has now been amended and it has been decided to give it the name of Sub-Tahsil Office Bijapur-Anantpur. It is further worthy to mention that considering the proposals and suggestions received by the Department and the demands of the villagers of different villages, it has also been agreed that the Sub-Tahsil Office building be also constructed and established in between both the villages i.e. Bijapur and Anantpur, as per the convenience of the villagers.”

Vikram Sharma, Dy. Govt. Advocate submitted that establishment of Sub-Tahsil Office in the light of the statements made reply will require some time.

Therefore, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami and Justice Sanjay Agrawal disposed of the PIL, providing that the respondent authorities will implement the decision as indicated in their reply as expeditiously as possible.
