The Delhi High Court on Monday set aside CMM order granting transit remand of human rights activist Gautam Navlakha in the Bhima Koregaon raids case.

The bench comprising Justices S Muralidhar and Vinod Goel said “order of the CMM granting transit remand is unsustainable in law”.

The court was hearing the plea filed by Navlakha seeking stay of the transit remand to Pune in the Bhima Koregaon raids case and other connected prayers.

During the earlier hearings, the court had questioned Maharashtra Police for rendering the remand application to Navlakha in the Marathi language except all other documents. The court had observed that lower courts should be cautious while granting transit remand.

Navlakha was one of the five activists along with P Varavara Rao, Vernon Gonsalves, Sudha Bharadwaj and Arun Ferreira who were arrested during the raids across India for being allegedly involved in Bhima Koregaon violence. The raids were carried out…
