A case has been filed on Monday seeking action against Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey for negligence for deaths of 82 children in Bihar due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the past 10-15 days.
The case has been filed before Muzaffarpur Chief Judicial Magistrate’s (CJM) by Social activist Tamanna Hashmi.
The plea by Hashmi stated that Vardhan and Pandey, both were failed to control the epidemic of AES even as they did nothing to create sensitization and aware people in the impacted areas. The plea claimed that both neglected the fact that the disease was killing children for years.
Hashmi filed the case under Sections 308, 323 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The court fixed the matter for June 24.
