DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal takes suo motu note of online rape threats to Virat Kohli’s child

The Delhi Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognizance of reports of online rape threats to Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli’s nine-month-old daughter following the India vs Pakistan match. India had lost the match to Pakistan by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2021 and soon after that, some people started sending hate messages to the Indian players on various social media platforms.

Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, said the online rape threats to a child is shameful. She further added, “The Indian team has made everyone proud thousands of times, why this silliness in defeat.”

The DCW also took note of a tweet posted by a user threatening to rape Virat-Anushka’s daughter. The post was made from the account @Criccrazygirl; the handle has since been deleted. However, some social media users have claimed the tweet was made by a Pakistani account, which was later revealed to be a person from Andhra Pradesh or Telangana.
