Delhi HC Ask Govt To Discuss RWAs Concern Over COVID-19 Hospital In Residential Area

The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed District Magistrate the Nodal Officer of the Safdarjung Area to call for a meeting along with the SHO and visit the Hospital along with the representative of the petitioners in a plea challenging the Delhi Government order declaring Hospital as a dedicated COVID Hospital.

A single-judge bench of Justice Navin Chawla of Delhi High Court while conducting hearing through video conferencing noted that the said meeting shall take place in front of the declaring Ujala Cygnus Orthocare Hospital on 5th June 2020.

The Court passed its order on the plea filed by SDA (C-5) Residents Welfare Association through their Advocate Mr. Aman Nandrajog challenging the order of the Delhi Government passed of 16th May 2020 declaring Ujala Cygnus Orthocare Hospital as a COVID-19 dedicated Hospital.

However, on Thursday the counsel appearing for the petitioner sought a limited relief that the Hospital may be directed to take all precautionary measures as would be required and feasible to ensure that the declaration of thehospital as a COVID Hospital does not cause any health hazard to the residents of the area.

Whereas, Additional Standing Counsel Mr. Sanjay Ghosh appearing for the Delhi Government assured that all such measures are being taken and will continue to be taken by the respondents.
