The Delhi High Court directed the Delhi government to frame a Standard Operating Procedure dealing with complications that are arising post Covid-19 and make sure test facilities and quarantine facilities are available for travellers coming from the United Kingdom.

A division bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Subramonium Prasad, while hearing the petition through video conferencing noted, “The Expert Committee already constituted by the Delhi Government shall examine the aforesaid aspect and come up with an SOP, which will be given wide publicity.”

The PIL has been filed by Rakesh Malhotra seeking directions to the Delhi government to increase the number of tests in Delhi and getting speedy results thereon.

Malhotra submitted, “Persons who have recovered from Covid-19 infection continue facing serious health issues and are finding it difficult to go back to normal life… Delhi Government may be called upon to address the issue by preparing an SOP for those suffering from post Covid complications relating to the lungs and other vital organs.”

In the previous hearings, the Delhi High Court had directed the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi to keep its focus on testing and tracing to deal with the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the capital.

In its affidavit, the Delhi government stated, “GNCTD is enhancing contact tracing and creating more containment zones in the districts where positive rate is more in DDMA meeting of December 21, it has been decided that GNCTD will follow “Representative Testing” focusing more on the districts/pockets where the positivity is more.”
