New Delhi (ILNS): The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition alleging that the COVID-19 pandemic was a human-created genocide and sought directions to hold the relevant officials of the World Health Organization (WHO) accountable for failing to prevent the pandemic.
The bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Hrishikesh Roy, on perusing the petition, remarked: “(The) Petitioner may be a doctor, but not a lawyer, as is evident from the prayers in PIL.”
The petition was filed by Dr Raman Kakar, seeking accountability of the relevant officials of the WHO for failing to prevent Covid-19 Pandemic, which had been avoidable.
The petitioner has alleged: “The WHO is the global watchdog and the custodian of ‘International Health Regulations (IHR) – 2005’. But it facilitated China in its sadistic designs to ravage humanity. The duo committed this – once-in-a-century type of a crime. WHO didn’t impeach China but kept praising it like a puppet. It didn’t probe Wuhan, but misled by publishing fake data handed by China. WHO’s denial of human transmission and failure to impose travel-ban proved catastrophic. WHO faked normalcy and failed to issue timely alerts like ‘Global health emergency’ and ‘Pandemic.’ Its advice was unscientific, wrong and harmful. Infection kept spreading like wild fire while mankind slept, lulled by WHO in to complacency.”
Dr Kakar has devoted his life towards eradication of tuberculosis. It was his path-breaking research that had proved that WHO’s TB therapy, adopted by India (in 1997) was ineffective, cheap and harmful. He had petitioned the Supreme Court which had swiftly banned that model.
