Advocate Satyam Singh Rajput, Supreme Court of India wrote an open letter to the Chairman Of  Bar Council Of India regarding the concession, deferment of the fee to the law students of the private and unaided colleges/ universities across India in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. The letter has been signed by Adv. Satyam Singh Rajput along with Adv. Amit Kumar Sharma, Adv. Shivam Singh, Adv. Arti Singh, Prateek Sharma, Final year law student of Delhi University & Diksha Dadu, 3rd year law student of Amity University,

Mr. Rajput in his letter said that unfortunately private and unaided law colleges/universities are demanding upcoming semester fee from the students. The entire world is grappling with the outbreak of CORONAVIRUS (COVID- 19). The entire country is in the lockdown. Common citizen are confronting with aggravated economic hardships. Citizens are finding it difficult to make ends meet. Parents are not in the position to pay lum- sum fee demanded by private and unaided colleges/universities. The demand of semester / annual fee on the part of the said colleges / universities per se is unethical and unwarranted.

Mr. Rajput also said that he has received various complaints from law students from almost every length and breath of India, stating their plight that if the dues will not be cleared within due course of time,

a) the said student shall not be allowed to attend his/her classes, results will be with-held for such student,

b) students shall not be allowed to appear for end term examination and as well as  admission of such student can also be cancelled by the university.

He has requested the BCI Chairman Mr. Manan Kumar Mishra to look into the matter and try to resolve the grievances of law students at the earliest so that they are not deprived of their right to get legal education.
