Madras High Court orders blocking of all objectionable social media posts by Justice (Retd) Karnan

Chennai (ILNS): A seemingly agitated Bar Council of Tamil Nadu today asked the Madras High Court bench that how is it that action is not being taken against former High Court Judge CS Karnan for his allegedly derogatory posts on social media against women and the judiciary. The court has now directed the blocking of derogatory remarks by Karnan on social media.

The bar council has moved a criminal petition in court, seeking action against the former judge.

Arguments were placed before Justice T. Ravindran today by Senior Advocate S Prabhakaran for the Bar Council. The judge then referred the matter to a Division Bench already hearing a writ petition moved by the Council in this matter.

During arguments, Senior Advocate Prabakaran asked the bench: “What is this Milord? Our judiciary is it so weak that it is unable to defend itself and its own learned brothers? That is our unfortunate plight.”

The contention is that despite the court’s earlier instructions, Karnan’s posts continue to come over social media. The lawyer pleaded that even if the former judge cannot be arrested, at least the person uploading the posts should be.

  2. Some time hang over take longer to go off.And lot many unsatisfied soul quench their throat and get partial Moksha. That’s all about the immaturity of human knowledge and some time wisdom take next birth to understand the human understanding.

  3. Just ignore him. He will vanish after some time. High court decision will make him a hero. This is my personnel view.

  4. Karnan is a mad. He plays the card of backward class. How he became judge, most probably on quota basis. He does not have a simple sense of what to tell and what not. For unparliamentary speeches he should be behind the bar for indefinite period ,though he already got a taste of imprisonment earlier. Before being a judge , a mental condition should be checked up.

  5. Oh wow, if former judge makes a derogatory comments he cannot be arrested is it? What a discriminatory legal structure is this? Infact, such people should be punished immediately for letting their learned and luminaries from legal world.
