After investigating the Muzaffarpur shelter home case for 141 days, the CBI on Wednesday submitted chargesheet against key accused Brajesh Thakur and 20 others accused in the POCSO court.

Along with the chargesheet, the CBI also submitted a case diary consisting of 3,000 pages. The CBI has charged the accused under Section 120 B, 376, 34 IPC, 4/6/8/10/12 POCSO act along with other sections.

The POCSO court will take cognizance of chargesheet filed by the CBI. The accused will be summoned to court. And then the charges will be decided and trial will start. Thereafter, witnesses will be examined.

Muzaffarpur shelter case came into the light after an audit by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) found that minor girls were sexually assaulted in the shelter home ran by Thakur’s NGO.

The apex court is monitoring the CBI investigation into the case.
