The National Green Tribunal is hearing a plea related to disposing of heavy metals such as Mercury.

On Tuesday, the Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel headed bench was apprised by the petitioner that Mercury was being disposed of in odd places.

The bench observed that to treat the disposal of heavy metals a system should be set up and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study needs to be done.

The bench directed a status report to be submitted before Dec 31 to show how much of progress has been made.

The matter will be heard again on Jan 16, 2018.
