Nurses Body Petition HC To Get COVID Affected Professionals Back To Kerala

United Nurses Association (UNA), a professional body of health workers, petitioned the Kerala High Court seeking directions to urgently take steps to bring back the COVID affected nurses who have been tested positive and those prescribed for a test and not tested, to the State of Kerala for further treatment since the conditions in other States are deteriorating day by day.

The UNA is a professional association of registered nurses and takes up the case of exploitation of nurses by the thriving private hospitals. The petitioner, UNA is a professional association of registered nurses in the state of Kerala. The petitioner states that the Nurses in different states are working in alarmingly dangerous environments which give them exposure to the COVID 19 Virus. Moreover tests are not prescribed for nurses showing symptoms and are denied basic facilities like food, quarantine and medical care. There have been instances of famous hospitals making nurses to work even when they have been affected by fever etc.

The petitioners have further submitted that an online petition was sent to the Chief Minister of Kerala , however even though the letter has been accepted, no steps have been promised in so far as bringing back of the nurses are concerned.

The petitioners have prayed that the right to life of Nurses guaranteed under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution be protected who have sacrificed their safety for the human beings of this country.
