Pleas against Punjab DGP appointment rejected by High Court

New Delhi (ILNS): The Punjab and Haryana High Court today gave a big relief to the Punjab government and the DGP of the state Dinkar Gupta. Dinkar Gupta will continue to be the DGP of Punjab. All the petitions against Dinkar about his appointment as DGP have been rejected by the High Court.

The Punjab government-appointed Dinkar Gupta as the DGP of the state, giving him preference over other officials. Mohammad Mustafa was also a big contender for the post. After his claim was rejected, Mustafa moved to Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).

The CAT gave a big shock to Dinkar Gupta and the Punjab government and rejected his appointment to the post of DGP.

After this, the Punjab government filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the decision of CAT. Along with this, many petitions were also filed in the High Court against the appointment of Dinkar Gupta. The petitions were filed by Siddharth Chattopadhyay, Mohammad Mustafa, DGP (PSPCL).

The High Court, while considering several hearings on these petitions, dismissed them. In its 112-page judgment, the High Court has validated the appointment of Dinkar Gupta to the Punjab DGP. The Court reserved its decision on September 9 in this case.

Dinkar Gupta was appointed DGP on February 7, 2019.
