Rajasthan High Court disposes of PIL on non-functional bus stand, suggests democratic recourse to petitioners

The Rajasthan High Court has recently disposed of a Public Interest Litigation, alleging that the bus stand at the notified place has not yet been made operational by the authorities.

The PIL has been filed by one Khurshid Ahmad.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Akil Kureshi and Justice Rekha Borana, while considering the PIL, held that ordinarily, the High Court in such matters would not give directions in exercise of PIL jurisdiction.

The petitioners and other aggrieved residents of the locality have to take recourse as per the democratic process.

The Court also noted that there appears to be serious disputes between the members of the family, who earlier owned the land, which is notified for the purpose of bus stand.

The Counsel for the petitioners stated that those family members wish to divest this property, which would be opposed to the surrendering of land for the purpose of construction of this bus stand.

“These are internal disputes with which the public interest petitioners would not be concerned. The petition is disposed of”, observed the Court.
