Telangana HC To Govt: Tell Us Your Plans To Bring Back Stranded Devotees

The High Court of Telangana has sought a detailed report from the state government on the steps being taken to bring back 107 pilgrims stranded in Sirohi district of Rajasthan.

The division bench comprising of Chief Justice RaghvendraSingh Chauhan and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy was hearing a petition in the form of a letter addressed to the Chief Justice highlighting the plight of the devotees who have been stranded in a school in Sirohi since March 23.

The petitioner, Advocate K Ramakanth Reddy has sought a direction to the the concerned authoriries to bring back the pilgrims since there were no record of COVID 19 cases  in Sirohi district. The petitioner further submitted that the pilgrims have undergone self quarantine since the very first day they were stranded at the school.

While passing the order the bench expressed its concern over the pilgrims since most of them were women.

However, BS Prasad, Advocate General appearing for the state government assured the bench that the state government had already commenced dialogue with the government of Rajasthan and efforts were being made to bring back the pilgrims safely at the earliest.

The bench has directed the State government to file its report by May 8.
