Special CBI Judge, Ajay Kumar Kuhar heard the case of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister of Mamta Banerjee. The case involved offences under Representation of People Act — filing of false affidavit before Election Commission in general election wherein the Magistrate had issued summons against Mr Banerjee seeking his appearance.

Mr. Banerjee challenged the summon in the session court wherein the matter was taken up for further hearing. The counsel appearing for the applicant/Abhishek Banerjee concluded the argument contending that the jurisdiction is not established in Delhi as the affidavit was filed in West Bengal and the same should be tried there. Secondly, he mentioned that the alleged false Information of submitting MBA degree from derecognized university is not true. Because, he mentioned in the affidavit about his MBA degree and the same is true to that extent from the same university as mentioned.

The Counsel appearing for the state was not prepared to lead the argument and hence, the matter got adjourned further for 14 February 2020.
