Uttarakhand HC stays removal of encroachment in Kotdwar till January 8

The Uttarakhand High Court has stayed an order to remove an encroachment on nazul land and Badrinath highway in Kotdwar till January 8 while hearing a PIL. The case will be heard next on that date.

The case was heard by the bench of Chief Justice (Acting) Ravi Kumar Malimath and Justice Alok Kumar Verma. Earlier, the court had ordered the removal of encroachments around Nazul land and highways within 8 weeks. Some encroachers had filed a review petition challenging the order on Monday. On their behalf, it was said that they have not encroached on the Nazul land and the highway.

While hearing the case, the Bench stayed the removal of encroachment till January 8. Mujib, a resident of Kotdwar, had filed a PIL saying that due to encroachments on Nazul land and Badrinath highway in Kotdwar, the highway had become narrower and saw frequent traffic jams and had prayed for the removal of encroachments.
