Of late, Supreme Court judge Justice SA Bobde, who is in line to become the next chief justice of India after CJI Ranjan Gogoi retires, has not been hearing matters listed before his bench due to ill health. The honourable Supreme Court judge met with an accident while test driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He fell off the bike and broke his leg.
The accident has not only affected the honourable judge on health grounds, but important matters listed before his bench are also awaiting hearings.
Justice Bobde has also not been attending Collegium meetings at a time when decisions on the elevation of judges to the Supreme Court or transfer of High Court judges (especially Delhi High Court’s Justice Muralidhar) have caused considerable controversy.
His absence is being widely felt in the top court.

The tenor of the headline seems to indict Justice Bobde for the blasphemous act of riding a bike, that too, a Harley. The story wouldn’t have been made had he probably slipped in his lawns. This is reprehensible. Wish him a speedy recovery and may he clock many thousand miles on his Harley ?
