Alwar lynching: SC tells Rajasthan govt to explain how the court’s guidelines have not been overlooked

Senior Advocate Indira Jaising on Monday (August 20) urged the apex court that contempt notice should be issued to the Rajasthan government in the Alwar lynching case (which happened on July 21) as they themselves have confessed that they got late by at least three hours in admitting the victim to the hospital.

She further said that the Principal Secretary for State of Rajasthan must be directed to be present physically to explain as why victim was admitted late in the hospital.

Countering the arguments, the counsel appearing for Rajasthan government said that appropriate action has been taken.

To this, the bench of CJI Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud directed the counsel to file an affidavit along with compliance report.

The matter will be again heard on August 30.

The bench was acting on a contempt plea against the Rajasthan government for violating court directives along with the main case by petitioner Tehseen Poonawala seeking action against cow vigilantes indulging in violence.
