Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjiv Khanna recused from hearing Sajjan Kumar’s plea challenging Delhi HC verdict sentencing him to life term in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

The case will be heard by newly-constituted bench later.

On Dec 17, 2018, the Delhi HC had convicted and sentenced Kumar to imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life after which he had surrendered in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Aditi Garg following which he was taken into custody and sent to Mandoli jail.

Kumar then had moved the apex court challenging his conviction and sentencing in the case.
