Supreme Court issues notice to MS Dhoni in Amrapali case, refuses to stay hearing of arbitration committee

The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the Amrapali Group case.

Along with this, the bench of Justice U.U. Lalit and Justice Bela M. Trivedi refused to stay the hearing of the arbitral committee that had been constituted under the chairmanship of Justice Veena Birbal, a retired judge of the Delhi High Court, to settle the matter.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court said people are not able to get flats due to lack of funds.

Dhoni had taken the matter to the Arbitration Committee demanding Rs 150 crore. He had appealed in the Delhi High Court that Amrapali had not paid his fees. He had also sought arbitration in the matter from the High Court.

In fact, an application has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the hearing of the Arbitral Committee constituted by the Delhi High Court to settle the ongoing dispute between Amrapali and Dhoni

If the mediation committee gives an order in favour of Dhoni, then the Amrapali Group will have to pay Rs 150 crore to him.

Dhoni was once the brand ambassador of Amrapali Group but in 2016, he distanced himself from the group.
