Param Bir Singh, the former Mumbai Police Commissioner, has moved the Supreme Court on Monday challenging the Maharashtra government order transferring him from the post of Mumbai Police chief.

He said that before evidences are destroyed, the Court should order an impartial investigation into the charges of corruption he has made against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of the Nationalist Congress Party, a part of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Singh sought a CBI investigation into each of Deshmukh’s acts abusing the Maharashtra Home Minister’s office.

In his writ petition filed in the Apex Court, Singh reiterated his allegations of corruption by Deshmukh, right from setting Rs 100 crore targets from bars, hotels and shops for officers, including police officer Sachin Vaze, who has been arrested by the NIA in the investigations into the Ambani bomb scare case.

Singh said he wrote in detail to Chief Minister Thackeray on the lack of truth in media statements issued by Deshmukh and also messages sent to police officers bypassing him and the Commissioner’s office.

“The Hon’ble Home Minister had been calling police officers at his official residence bypassing the petitioner and other superior officers of the Police Department to whom those respective Police Officers report to. The Hon’ble Home Minster has been instructing them to carry out official assignments and collection schemes including financial transactions as per his instructions based on his expectations and targets to collect money,”

Shukla was transferred out without any action against Deshmukh. For more details, read his petition below.
