Swamy said that eight years have gone by in this and what is there to delay. Only whether or not national heritage status can be given.

The statement was made by Swamy when the Centre asked for time period of 14 days for fling a response .

The matter was put before the CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice Hima Kohli and Justice JB Pardiwala.

The former MP Swamy said that as directed by the court , Government was supposed to file a reply by now.

He added that a letter has been circulated stating that Solicitor General Tushar Mehta would not be able to come. But October 13 order directed him to file a reply before the next date,” Swamy said.

The Central Government Counsel said that reply is ready, its a matter of approval from ministry. We request for a period of 2 weeks.

The Court proceeded to allow the request, although Subramanian Swamy was not agrreing to it.

The bench gave four weeks to Central government for reply, and two weeks for the rejoinder.
