The Supreme Court on Friday (August 3) restrained Enforcement Directorate (ED) from taking any punitive action against Nalini Chidambaram, wife of former Union minister P Chidambaram, in a case related to multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam.

The bench comprising Justices A K Sikri and Ashok Bhushan further issued notice to ED.

Earlier, Madras HC had refused to cancel the ED summons (to appear as a witness in the case) after which Nalini had approached the apex court.
