The apex court on Monday refused to give urgent hearing to a PIL seeking the linking of Aadhaar with Voter ID cards.

The PIL which has been filed by Advocate Ashwani Kumar Upadhayay says Aadhaar-based voting will curtail bogus votes and ensure maximum participation.

A similar PIL had been filed in the Madras High Court. The Election Commission of India (ECI) had informed the Madras High Court that it had no opposition to the linking of Aadhaar with electoral rolls and voter cards. However, ECI had told the court that any decision in the case should be taken keeping in mind the recent Supreme Court order on Aadhaar.
