SC tells former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to approach Calcutta HC or trial court for protection from arrest by CBI

The Supreme Court on Friday told former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to approach Calcutta High Court or trial court for extension of the protection from arrest by CBI.

The bench comprising Justices Arun Mishra, Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai and Justice Surya Kant told Kumar: “You (Rajeev Kumar) can go to Calcutta High Court or trial courts as they are functional. There is no vacation there (in courts of West Bengal). Seek appropriate remedy.”

The bench was hearing plea by Kumar seeking prolongation of the protection from arrest by CBI till concerned jurisdictional court in West Bengal settles his anticipatory bail plea.
