The Supreme Court today expressed its displeasure over airlines not starting operations to ‘less lucrative’ destinations like Shimla and the North East. The bench of Chief Justice of India and Justice Banumathi was hearing the matter regarding air connectivity to the Queen of Hills.

During the last hearing, the court had asked the ministry of civil aviation to submit details of granting licences to airlines. While apprising the court about the procedure, the ministry also said that it was following due procedure to grant licence.

The bench was also informed by the counsel appearing for the ministry that due to inclement weather conditions, it was difficult to fly on the route, and the number of travellers was also less.

The matter was adjourned to April 21 for the ministry to file additional affidavit regarding granting licence.
