Having taken suo moto cognizance of media reports of a lady PWD official being shot dead during a demolition (of unauthorized construction) drive in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, the Supreme Court bench of Justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta on Wednesday (May 9) asked for reports on:
- Whether any steps have been taken against the offence.
- Guidelines in respect of unauthorized construction.
- Steps and guidelines for the demolition of unauthorized construction.
The counsel present said that the court needs to frame guidelines so that similar incident does not happen again.
The matter will be taken up in July.
