The Supreme Court bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Mohan Shantanagoudar on Tuesday
(December 12) ordered that from next year, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will have similar set of question papers and all sets will be duly translated in English, Hindi and other vernacular languages.

The bench was hearing a petition filed against CBSE for setting different set of question papers for students taking NEET in vernacular language.

During the course of proceedings, Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Joint Secretary, NEET informed the bench that recommendations have been sent to Principal of Board and Advisory Committee to bring uniformity in forthcoming NEET.

Acting on the submission of Joint Secretary, the bench said: “Statement of Joint Secretary is placed on record and all petitions related to uniformity in NEET have been disposed of.”

Earlier, the Union human resource ministry facing backlash from students across India had said that vernacular question papers for the NEET will be mere translation of the question paper in English.

“The vernacular question papers for the NEET — the all-India entrance examination for medical colleges — will just be a translation of the question paper in English,” Union Human Resource Minister Prakash Javadekar had said.
