The Supreme Court on Tuesday (January 23) refused to ban screening of the film Padmaavat in two states Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Both the states had moved apex court seeking modification of its January 18 order in which it had allowed screening of the film in seven states including Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

During the course of proceedings, the Court questioned the Madhya Pradesh government, saying that it should have put up concrete reason for the ban on the screening of the film. “Why such a petition should be heard?” the Court asked.
