Tis Hazari Court asks Singer Mika to file written statement in defamation suit filed by doctor he slapped

The Tis Hazari court granted time to famous singer Mika Singh to file a written statement in a Rs 50 lakh defamation suit filed against him by a doctor he had allegedly slapped during a concert in April last year.

The additional district judge Raj Rani Mitra while grating time, also asked him to supply more documents including a CD, to his counsel within two weeks. The case is now fixed for May 17.

Singh was earlier summoned in the defamamtion case filed by Dr Srikanth, ophthalmologist at Dr B R Ambedkar Hospital, alleging that the singer had slapped him during a concert, which was coordinated by Delhi Opthalmological Society as part of its three-day conference.

In his complaint, Dr Srikanth alleged that Singh, who was at the stage, asked him to move aside while he was dancing. According to the doctor, the singer was rude and used expletives. When he refused to move away, Dr Srikanth alleged that Singh directed his bouncers to bring him on the stage. Then, two bouncers came down and dragged him to the stage by “grabbing his collar”.
