The Supreme Court on Monday (June 4) agreed to hear a plea filed by the relatives of the deceased in Thoothukkudi (Tuticorin) firing, wanting a doctor of their choice on the board of doctors which is to conduct post-mortem of the deceased. The top court, however, declined a plea for an urgent hearing.

The court said that it will take up the matter after vacations.

In the same incident, a PIL had been filed in the apex court earlier seeking a CBI probe into the deaths by registering an FIR against the Collector, Superintendent of Police and other police officials.
