Ahmedabad Bar Association urges Gujarat HC Chief Justice to open city Civil Courts for Physical Hearing

The Ahmedabad Bar Association has written a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court to open city Civil Courts for Physical Hearing.

The Association has stated that the City Civil Court and other courts have been closed down since the last four months due to which most of the lawyers are facing financial crisis.

The Association further stated that “Those lawyers whose sons and daughters are studying in schools and colleges have to pay the fees for their education. They have to pay their staff members. They have to spend for their livelihood. Thus the financial burden has become unbearable. Most of the practicing (sic) lawyers have become helpless without earning”.

The Association further dissatisfied with the e-hearing urged the Chief Justice to start the physical hearing of cases in City Civil Courts. It has been suggested that initially each Judge may hear not more than 5 matters per day and 30 minutes time may be allotted per matter.

Further the entry in the Court room may be restricted to a lawyer, his junior and one client on each side.
