Babri case deposition: ‘I am being falsely implicated,’ says Murli Manohar Joshi

As The Special CBI judge continued taking depositions, today (July 24) was the time for veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi. In Lucknow, the 87-year-old leader’s deposition was recorded on the issue of the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid. This deposition was done through video conferencing.

Later, Joshi’s lawyer Abhishek Ranjan said, as per reports: “In his statement, he (Joshi) said that false evidence has been collected against him and he is being falsely implicated in the case. Joshi told the court there that was no conspiracy in the (demolition) incident.”

The lawyer said that the CBI has been directed to get the signature of Joshi on documents carrying his statement. This will be submitted to court. Joshi is the second accused. On Tuesday the court recorded the statement of Ram Chandra Khatri, who is now in Sonipat jail in Haryana, through video conference.

Another senior BJP leader expected to record his deposition through video conferencing today is the 92-year-old former Deputy PM Lal Krishna Advani.
