Bhubaneswar minor gang rape: Status report by Odisha DGP after Orissa High Court’s displeasure over delay in probe

New Delhi (ILNS): After the Orissa High Court had expressed displeasure over the delay in the investigation into the Bhubaneswar minor ‘gang rape’ case, the Odisha Director General of Police, Abhay, has submitted an affidavit and status report in connection with the case.

On November 9 the high court had directed the DGP to appear personally during the next hearing of the case. Yesterday, the DGP appeared through video conferencing.

On August 30 the mother of the gang-rape victim had lodged a formal police complaint in the Mahila police station in Bhubaneswar, alleging that some employees of a media house and police personnel were involved in the gang rape of her minor daughter. The case was handed over to the Crime Branch of Odisha Police on October 6.

The court has scheduled the next hearing of the matter on December 16.
