CBI arrests Manish Sisodia’s former OSD on charges of corruption, Sisodia backs move

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested a Goods and Service Tax Officer (GST) of the Delhi government for allegedly accepting a bribe of 2 lakh rupees. The arrested official had also served as Officer on Special Duty(OSD) to Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia.

Gopal Krishna Madhav an officer of the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) was arrested in a late night operation. After which he was immediately taken to CBI headquarters.

The move comes hours before the Delhi Assembly polls scheduled on February 8.

Sisodia was quick to react on CBI move, he tweet on Friday urging the CBI to ensure strict action against the officer. “I have got to know that CBI has arrested a GST inspector while accepting bribe. This officer was posted in my office as OSD. CBI should immediately ensure that he is punished. I have myself got such corrupt officials caught in the last five years,” said Sisodia in Hindi.

However, soon after the arrest of the official, BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that  Sisodia’s OSD was accepting bribes on his behalf. “The OSD was caught taking money on behalf of Manish Sisodia, now he has only taken Rs two lakhs, however, the total is Rs 10 lakhs. Friends…All these people are complicit in the crime…All are thieves…All of them just act as common man,” tweeted Patra in Hindi.

But the CBI has summarily denied the involvement of Sisodia in the case.
