The Centre has notified the appointment of two advocates as Judges of the Delhi High Court.
The notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, said, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri (i) Jasmeet Singh and (ii) Amit Bansal, to be Judges of the Delhi High Court, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”
The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting dated 17th August 2020, had approved the names of six advocates for appointment as Judges of the Delhi High Court, including the names of two approved by the Centre today.
The Centre has also cleared the names of Shri (i) Murali Purushothaman (ii) Ziyad Rahman Alevakkatt Abdul Rahiman (iii) Karunakaran Babu and (iv) Dr. Kauser Edappagath, to be Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court.
It has also notified the name of Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court to be appointed as the Judges of Karnataka High Court.
“In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint S/Shri Justices (1) Singapuram Raghavachar Krishna Kumar (2) Ashok Subhashchandra Kinagi (3) Suraj Govindaraj and (4) Sachin Shankar Magadum, Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court, to be Judges of the Karnataka High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices,” said the Notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.

The Supreme Court collegium consists of five-members headed by the Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde. Apart from him Justices N.V. Ramana, Rohinton Fali Nariman, Uday Umesh Lalit and Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar are in the Collegium.
