CJI NV Ramana approves special Covid care center in Pragati Maidan building

Chief Justice of India Justice N.V. Ramana has given the formal clearance for setting up a special Covid care center facility in the Supreme Court‘s new additional building complex in Pragati Maidan.
The Supreme Court Bar Association had earlier written to CJI Ramana to convert the new advocates’ chamber building into a Covid-19 care center for lawyers, court staff and their families.

SCBA president Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, Vice President Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, Senior Executive Member Senior Advocate Vikas Pahwa had also discussed the proposal with Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain and Principal Secretary, Health Vikram Dev Dutt, who in-principle agreed, and directed the officials of the Delhi Government to do the needful.

Chief Justice of India Ramana had also met SCBA and SCAORA representatives and had agreed to provide suitable areas for establishing Covid-related facilities, including the setting up of at least 60 beds, conducting RT-PCR tests, and getting Court members vaccinated.

The SCBA had sought the moving forward of the vacation from April 26 but CJI Ramana had advanced the vacations by a week from May 14 to May 7.
