A day after quitting Congress as an official spokesperson on the grounds that the party reinstated those who misbehaved with her, Priyanka Chaturvedi joined Shiv Sena in the presence of party chief Uddhav Thackeray and other senior leaders.
In her resignation letter, Chaturvedi had categorically mentioned about an incident which ultimately led her to resign. She had said that she was quitting the party as Congress High Command had reinstated in the party some of its leaders who misbehaved with her.
On Wednesday she had tweeted: “Deeply saddened that lumpen goons get preference in Indian National Congress over those who have given their sweat and blood. Having faced brickbats and abuse across board for the party but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate.”
The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) had suspended some of its workers for their unruly behaviour with Chaturvedi in Mathura while she was addressing a press conference on Rafale deal. The orders were reportedly revoked after the intervention by Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh West Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Priyanka Chaturvedi’s resignation letter (see below) to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi says “misbehaviour against me by certain party members has been ignored under the guise of all hands needed for elections… this indignity is the final factor to convince me to move on and focus on other things outside INC”. Before leaving the party, she left the All India Congress Committee (AICC) WhatsApp media group and all other internal groups of the party.
