DCW Takes Sou-Moto Cognizance Of Instagram Group ‘Bois Locker Room’, Issues Notice To Instagram & Delhi Police

The Delhi Commission for Women on Monday has taken suo-moto cognizance of reports regarding a group called ‘Bois Locker Room’ on the Social Networking Platform ‘Instagram’.

The Chat Group has numerous young boys as members disseminating sexually objectionable pictures and images of minor girls and young women. It has also been alleged that these groups were being used to discuss techniques of raping women and gang-raping minors.

The Information about the group came out when a young girl who was earlier the part of the group shared the screenshots from the group chat and soon when it went viral, celebrities also started sharing it. When the posts were all over the internet the girl started getting rape and gang rape threats by the members of the same chat group.

Swati Maliwal, Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women has issued notice to Delhi Police and Instagram in this regard.

The DCW has instituted an inquiry in this issue and has sought a copy of FIR registered in this matter, information about the people arrested in this matter if not then an explanation for the same and has also sought a detailed action taken report.

DCW has also sought information from Instagram about each admin and member of the group including their name, user name/ Handle, email ID, IP Address, Location, and other appropriate information.

The Commission has also sought information about whether Instagram has taken any action in this matter if not then an explanation for the same. Whether Instagram has reported to the police and if not appropriate reasoning for the same.

In this regard, Swati Maliwal Jaihind, Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women has also appealed for strict action in this matter releasing a video on social media.
