The Delhi High Court has today asked the Centre and State to consider PIL as a representation seeking directions to use better technologies as the mechanism for Issuing challans.
A divisional bench comprising the Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan while hearing the Public Interest Litigation through video conferencing noted that the petitioner have not approached the authorities with regards to the issue.
The petition has been filed by Advocate Sonali Karwasra appearing in person, stating that “The speed violation detection technology, the drunken driving breath analyzing technology and the red-light violation technology are not in accordance with the changing times.”
Karwasra submitted before the Court that “a hefty amount of challans are being Issued using the faulty technology, earlier, around 1.5 Lakh challans were called back for the same reason.”
However, the bench has directed the respondents to consider the PIL as a representation and decide in accordance with law as expeditiously as possible and practicable.
