Government of India Prohibits Export of Ventilators and Sanitizers including other necessary medical equipments #COVID19

Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India through its notification today has declared that all Ventilators including any artificial respiratory apparatus or oxygen therapy apparatus or any other breathing device or appliance and sanitizers will be prohibited for export with immediate effect.

This has been decided in furtherance of the haphazard created by the spread of pandemic disease, COVID-19 due to which there is scarcity of such necessary items as the cases with positive COVID-19 are increasing minute by minute. The decision of prohibiting the export has been taken in exercise of powers conferred under section 3 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 by the central Government.

Earlier to this on 19th March Director General of Foreign Trade through its notification, prohibited the export of clothing and masks used in health care activities. Ban was also put up on raw materials required for the manufacturing of such items and the notification included ventilators also.
