Gyanvapi masjid case verdict: Court commissioner not to be removed, survey to take place before May 17

District court on Thursday pronounced the judgement on the case of carrying out a video survey of the Gyanvapi mosque.

District Court on Thursday pronounced the judgement on the case of carrying out a video survey of the Gyanvapi mosque, which is located close to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. In the order, it was mentioned that the survey will take place before May 17.

It was also stated that the court commissioner will not be removed and another court commissioner will be asked to join. Varanasi court has asked to submit the report on May 17.


Earlier, the court ordered an inspection in April on petitions by five Hindu women asking for access to pray at a Hindu shrine behind the western wall of the Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi.

In the order, earlier, the local court directed the authorities to submit a report by May 10. However, now, the court in the latest order asked to submit the report on May 17.

In the order, it is also mentioned that everyone will need to comply with the directions of the country and if they’ll not, then action will be taken against them.

The court also said that all the areas of the mosque, including the underground basement, will be videographed and surveyed. The authorities have been asked to ensure that the court-appointed commissioners are fully supported in carrying out the orders.

Court-appointed advocate commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra will not be changed in this case, Two more lawyers including Vishal Kumar Singh will accompany Mishra during his survey and videography of the mosque which is adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

Meanwhile, advocate Ajay Kumar Mishra on Friday conducted a survey of some areas outside Gyanvapi Masjid in the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex amid the sloganeering by the two communities.

The case was heard by Civil Judge (Senior Division) Ravi Kumar Diwakar.
