J&K HC Srinagar Wing to remain closed till July 18

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court will remain closed between July 17 and July 18 for sanitization of the premises. The Court has notified closure of the Srinagar Wing of the High Court, after officials of the Court tested positive for COVID-19.

In wake of the current situation, the urgent cases listed for today and tomorrow ( July 17 and 18) will be heard on Monday, July 20, while listing of all other cases will be posted on the official website of the Court.

Previously the same Bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court was closed and had suspended its functioning for two days when a CRPF personnel had tested positive for the coronavirus.

More recently, the High Court of Rajasthan had also suspended its functioning till July 19 after its staff member had tested positive for COVID. The Court had issued a notification which stated that the functioning of courts and offices in Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur and the Jaipur bench would remain suspended from July 16 to 19 to collect samples from court staff at those places for COVID detection. Some samples had earlier been taken at both places and a few court staff had been found positive.

Last month, at least three judges of the Madras High Court had tested positive for COVID-19 that had caused a massive blow to its attempts to return to normal functioning, reportedly resulting in it deciding to restrict its functioning until the month end.

Accordingly, the administrative committee meeting of the High Court, had decided to revert back to hearing just urgent matters and function in a manner Similar to the one immediately after the first phase of lockdown had commenced.
