Karnataka HC Issues Addendums To Its New SOP For Courts

The High Court of Karnataka has issued addendums to its new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for both the High Court and the District Judiciary.

The Court has notified that in cases in which compromise of the matter between the parties needs to be recorded and when the presence of the parties to ascertain the genuineness of the settlement submitted before the Court is required, the Court can issue directions to such parties. The Court can direct those parties to be physically present before the Court to endorse or approve the contents of the compromise petition submitted before the Court.

In these cases, the Principal District and Sessions Judge or the Principal Judge will also issue passes as necessary to the concerned parties and allow them to enter the Court precincts to report the settlement.

An application will have to be made before the Court in the same manner as that of urgent hearing, if and when a case is required to be advanced for the purpose of reporting settlement.

The addendum issued for the High Court has stated that the Advocates, parties-in- person and the Advocates’ clerks can use the additional counters that have been opened for payment of court fee, process fee and copying fee. The counters for filing applications for certified copies have also been opened near the existing filing counters.

They will also be permitted to pay the court fee, process fee and copying fee and to file applications for certified copies by seeking prior appointment in the same manner in which they are required to seek appointments for physical filing, by sending an email to the email id provided in the notification on the website.

The addendums have been issued by Registrar General Rajendra Badamikar.
